Road construction

Road construction is a polarizing element in the development of communities, helping to connect them and reveal their intrinsic potential.

The field integrates fundamental elements of land development, planning, knowledge of the topography and specifics of the areas crossed by a road route, of geology and geotechnics, the use of construction materials, including local ones for cost efficiency.

Also, appropriate route design methods as well as specific execution technologies involve diverse knowledge from all fields of civil engineering, which, applied dedicatedly to increase accessibility, road safety and value natural and built heritage, ensures the sustainable development of a country.

This book, in a perhaps unconventional approach, integrates knowledge from the previously exposed fields from the desire of a reader interested in the subject or the student of Civil Engineering, in a specialization other than that given by The Faculty of Railway, Road and Bridge Construction, to have an overview of the complex processes that are carried out for the planning and implementation of a road infrastructure project, respectively a road or a street, with all modern equipment, applying the specific sustainable development concepts public investments.
