The author has proposed in this paper to synthesize the main theoretical issues regarding the optimal calculation of resistance structures for buildings and to provide designers with a tool for practical solution of this problem based on the development and indication of ways to use some automatic calculation programs.
Thus, starting from the principles, criteria and methods of optimizing the design of resistance structures, the author approaches optimization based on calculation in the elastic domain, optimal calculation based on post-elastic properties of materials and special problems in the calculation and analysis of structures in the post-elastic domain.
