Tribology of road vehicle contact surfaces

"Tribology of track vehicle contact surfaces", as a discipline of specializations in the field of railway vehicles, aims to deepen the problems related to the interaction of the vehicle with the track, mainly with the running track and with the electrical contact line, respectively.

Taking into account the fact that the tribological aspects of the contact surfaces are related to traffic safety, which predominates in railway transport, the research in the field is applied after a thorough experimentation and validation of the theoretical conclusions. The results of the international studies are included in ORE reports, ERRI and UIC files, some of which are mandatory for tests performed by the railway administrations and which are highlighted in this paper.
