This paper addresses the main issues specific to the aerodynamics of railway vehicles and the influence of aerodynamic drag on the dynamic performance of vehicles.
Recent technical skills based on innovative theories, with remarkable economic advantages, have developed rail vehicles as the main means of mass land transport of goods and passengers. As a result of these vehicles, remarkable progress is being made continuously. Given the safety that must prevail in rail transport, the results of new theoretical and experimental research are applied only after a very severe and often long experimentation and verification. That is why the very summary knowledge, of the problems that arise, of the still ungeneralized results and the presentation of some calculation methods is of a real use.
