This book covers a series of methods and techniques for the design of integrated circuit layouts. It provides an introduction to the use of the Virtuoso software suite, especially Layout XL, based on the acquisition of knowledge applied to simple circuits. In conjunction with a generic 180 nm technology, common structures are presented, with increasing difficulty, starting from a CMOS inverter, designed at the level of functional layers and ending with a trans-admittance amplifier.
The book is aimed at students and engineers at the beginning of their journey who want to experiment and develop their curiosity about the profession of integrated circuit designer.
