In the last decades, the communication networks and their applications passed through major
changes, reaching nowadays to be used in the area of high performance networked/distributed
control in automation. This area is still developing with attractive and widespread applications
ranging from automotive, large manufacturing plants, military unmanned vehicles, aero-spatial
to tele-robotics and tele-medicine.
This book is structured as follows: the first three chapters provide solutions
for the problems encountered in designing networked control systems, while the last three chapters
offer methodologies to deal with the complexity of the distributed control systems in three
different ways: through decentralized control, through non-cooperative distributed control, and
through coalitional distributed control.
